Book Description

Pink was the runt of the pig litter. He was so small that the Kerby family didn?t think he would survive? so they brought him into the house where he met Tink, a new dachshund mom. When Tink saw Pink, she immediately adopted him into her family, and helped nurse him back to health. Pink thrived in his new family: the puppies didn?t mind that Pink looked nothing like them?he was just their size. This remarkable story has already garnered a great deal of media attention: the irresistible photographs documenting Pink and Tink?s relationship have appeared on Good Morning America and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Readers of all ages will be captivated by these adorable animals and the amazing bond that they share.

Little Pink Pup is about a pig named Pink, who is the runt of his litter. He is cold, small, and weak. Because it was unknown if he would make it, Pink was brought in to be adopted by a dachshund mom - Tink. Automatically, Tink and the other puppies accepted Pink and treated him as if he was one of them. He thrived with his dachshund mom and dachshund siblings.

The overall message of this book is that no matter how different you are from the rest of your family, they love and accept you for the way you are.

When I read Little Pink Pup, I found myself able to relate to Pink, although I have never experienced what he did. He was very different from everyone, but regardless, he was still accepted. The layout of the book wasn't very engaging and the photos poorly portrayed the progression of the story.

I would recommend this book, because its theme of acceptance is truly significant to young readers. I believe a lot of people can feel this way, in one way or another, at some point in their lives. With a book like Little Pink Pup representing this idea of acceptance and love in a realistic way, children might feel more inclined to apply the message in their own lives. Little Pink Pup would be a good book to read to a child who has been adopted or has a disability of some short.
